How Can Paul Mckenna Make Me Thin?

If you are unfamiliar with one of Britain’s most celebrated , recognized and esteemed “self help” gurus then you are in for a happy surprise. Those who are familiar have probably gotten used to tapping around your eyes in public without caring who sees you.

Many people have used hypnosis to overcome their unhealthy vices or personal obstacles with the help of Paul McKenna. Hypnosis? Even though it might sound ridiculous to some people, after I took the time to watch an episode of “I Can Make You Thin” on TLC I quickly changed my opinion, at least for now. One of life’s great mysteries is the control of the mind. Scientists are finding new exciting developments in the brain everyday. Paul McKenna seems to believe that having a strong mind-body connection can overcome almost any bad habits. When it comes to weight loss, Paul has four rules that he will teach you.

Paul McKenna’s 4 Golden Rules.

When you are hungry, eat.

Eat what you want, not what you think you should.

Think about every bite you eat, and enjoy it.

Stop eating when you feel like you have had enough.

The rules listed above seem simple enough, however, if it was that easy the United States would not be ranked #9 on the list of top 10 obese countries in the World according to an article at Forbes written in 2007. The hypnosis mentioned earlier in this article is not your typical hanging medallion trick. Instead, Paul tries to get dieters to imagine disgusting images and associate those images with a food they crave while they physically workout. (usually achieved by pressing the thumb and middle finger together). The idea is to associate a feeling with an unpleasant thought to reduce that feeling. I attempted some of the techniques demonstrated during the show but felt a bit uncomfortable when my 6 month old daughter wrinkled her forehead while looking at me in confusion. I’ll wait until no one is around next time.

It is my opinion that Paul McKenna’s program has achieved its success due to its uniqueness. He has provided a fresh point of view on weight loss. I am still a little skeptical of “I Can Make You Thin,” but you can’t ignore Paul’s customer feedback. Irrespective of the effects of hypnosis, a diet is a diet no matter how you roll the dice. The biggest challenge in being successful in a diet is how much you believe in it.
